The Site Safety Plus Scheme provides the building, civil engineering and allied industries with a framework for training and career development, for all levels of the workforce.
The Scheme recognises a natural progression, from someone new to the industry through to those responsible for managing construction work. Starting with a health and safety awareness day to prepare for the Health and Safety Test, and progressing to an intermediate level for those about to have supervisory responsibilities. There is then and an advanced level for those with management responsibilities.
Site Management Safety Training Scheme (5 day): This course provides project managers, site managers and supervisors, business proprietors and client-based personnel with the knowledge and skills to enable them to ensure healthy and safe conditions for construction site employees. Certification valid for 5 years then must be refreshed.
Site Management Safety Training Scheme Refresher (2 day): Refreshes your understanding of your key responsibilities and accountability for site safety, health, welfare and the environment, enabling you to provide healthy and safe working conditions for everyone on site. The refresher course must be completed before the expiry date lapses on your existing SMSTS certificate.
Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme (2 day): Introduces Site Supervisors to their legal responsibilities regarding health, safety, welfare and environmental issues. Focus on effective toolbox talks. Certification valid for 5 years then must be refreshed.
Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme (1 day): Reinforces and update your knowledge and understanding of your legal responsibilities regarding health, safety, welfare and environmental issues. Must be completed, before the expiry date lapses on your existing SSSTS certificate.
Health and Safety Awareness (1 day): The course gives delegates an awareness of health and safety and how it affects their daily role. This course is for those who have entered, or are about to enter, the construction and civil engineering industry. Must be completed to obtain CSCS Green Card
Achieving Behavioural Change (1 day): This course promotes positive attitudes and behaviour for everyone on site and how to recognise and identify the triggers and signs of inappropriate behaviour and attitudes. The Achieving Behavioural Change course is in line with the existing ACoP and Guidance for the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007, which links to other legislation in requiring cooperation and co-ordination is carried out.
Directors Role in Health & Safety (1 day): Highlights the human, economic and financial implications of non-compliance with health and safety legislation. You can discover how to promote a positive health and safety culture within your organisation. The United Kingdom Contractors Group (UKCG) recognises this course as meeting the required standard for all directors working on UKCG sites
Site Environmental Awareness Training Scheme (1 day): This course meets the basic environmental knowledge that the sub-contract chain is required to prove to major contractors. It also covers the environmental aspects of the CITB Health, safety and environment (HS&E) test.
Safe Use of a Petrol Driven Cut off Saw Including Abrasive Wheels (half day): This course will cover all aspects of how to use petrol driven cut-off saw safely. It will include everything from selecting and fitting PPE, operating the machine and re-fuelling through to safe transportation.
